- Introduction: Why This Program and Why Now?Many loan originators want to get in front of real estate agents to develop relationships and earn referrals. With current changes in the interest rate environment and the real estate industry, now more than ever it's time to educate our real estate partners.2
- The Pros and Cons of Teaching Real Estate Continuing EducationWhile it may seem like a no-brainer, there are many aspects of teaching that must be considered. Continuing education requirements are serious business. Professionals of all types cannot renew their licenses without meeting these requirements. As with every endeavor, there are pros and cons.2
- What About Your Competition?Mastering these techniques will put you far above your competition. Your name, brand, expertise and professionalism are on display. Competitors will be jealous.2
- Getting Them to Want You!We have all taken classes where the instructor left much to be desired. Teaching in a way that is educational and entertaining is a talent. Mortgage knowledge alone does not translate into a compelling course delivery. W3
- The Timeline: From Concept to ClassroomTiming is everything! It can take months to years of course development and marketing continuing education courses. There are many timing issues that must be considered and every state and real estate association is different.2
- Course Approvals and State SubmissionsUnlike the NMLS that approves all state mortgage courses, real estate courses must be approved for each individual state. Each state has their own rules and guidelines as to what courses can be approved and which won't and why.2
- Getting Bodies in Seats and Earning RevenueThis is the easy part! If you follow the principles in this course, your providers will do all the marketing and fill those seats! This is a key component to the effectiveness of this program.2
- The Do's and Don'ts of Licensing EducationThere are certain practices that are necessary and some that are prohibited when teaching. If you spend the time to learn, you will insure you will be able to teach for years to come. The last thing you want to happen is to not become and remain an approved instructor.2
- The Required Skills for a Successful Course Delivery:There are so many skills and talents needed for a successful course delivery. Just because you may not have them, does not mean you can't develop them. Taking an honest self-assessment will help you determine your strengths and weaknesses.2
- Mechanics of Course Development: Your Course or Someone Else's?Some originators have the ability to write their own courses, and some either don't have the ability OR they don't want to invest the time. Teaching your own courses can be easier than learning someone else's content. There are pros and cons to each strategy, which depends on your flexibility, skills sets and time constraints. You will have a choice of doing either.2
- To Survey & Test...or Not!State and local real estate associations have differing priorities. While course surveys may be required in one state, they may not in another. And when it comes to assessing students knowledge, some will permit a post course quiz and some will not want their members to be required to take one.2
